I grew up in Portland, Oregon and have recently been blessed to be able to come back here to live at the base of Mt. Tabor after spending over sixteen years in Phoenix, Arizona.
In my paintings, I strive for subject matter as stories captured at a moment in time, using enhanced perspectives and compressing inner/outer contour line.
I painted the "Woman in Time" series, you will see displayed in the following pages, in airbrushed gouache, with a desire to look back at moments in the lives of women of times past and cultures disparate. In addition to the originals displayed, I have produced a 750 signed/limited edition lithograph at IP Koke Printing, which turned out beautifully, in addition to a lithograph card set of the five paintings in this series.
A year ago this past summer I spent several weeks in Rwanda, Africa getting to know some of her people, and learning about their lives and joys, struggles and sorrows. I hope two of my most recent paintings which are in response to this experience communicate some of what my heart has learned.
Blessings
